Tablets of Fate
This is a small resource-gathering colony belonging to the city-state of Dartonia. It sits in the shadow of the Great Mountains, at the border of the human and giant realms, along a river (name?) which is used to transport loads of timber and ore South West to Dartonia.
Arinh is little more than a large clearing hacked out of the forest. Crude log cabins house most of the town’s 300 citizens, who are lead by Titus Palamedes, a mayor appointed by his cousin, Hanse Palamedes, Regent Lord of Dartonia. Another 500 inhabitants are slaves, owned by Tath Stormblade and managed by his daughter Nephéle Stormblade, who work in the mines and timber mills.
There is a tribe of giants living on the mountain mined by Arinh, and they occasionally threaten to raid the colony if they are not regularly paid tribute. The humans have an uneasy peace with the giants, and in order to maintain this peace, as well as to avoid disruptions to Dartonia’s supply chain, Tath sacrifices a couple of the weakest, sickest, or most trouble-making slaves to these giants once per month to propitiate them. It is assumed these sacrifices are devoured.
